Create lasting relationships while exploring the historic city of New Orleans and working on Gulf Coast relief. Help rebuild homes and schools, and work alongside local grassroots organizations as you become immersed in this culturally dynamic region. Participants will also travel around the Deep South, discovering the roles played by Jews during the civil rights struggles in the 1950s and 60s.
After your Mitzvah Corps of the South experience you'll be an expert in social justice and advocacy, being able to apply what you've learned to tackle issues in your own communities. You will return to your congregation, school, and community energized & prepared with new ideas for social action projects, social justice programming ideas and methods to affect change.
